Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
About Ellensburg Theater Company
For more than 50 years, community theater has been bringing stories to life on Oregon's Southern Coast.
Our roots trace back to 1971 with the formation of the The Gull Players, a dedicated group of local performers, volunteers, and theater enthusiasts who shared a passion for the performing arts and a belief that quality live theater should be accessible to everyone in our community.
As the organization grew, it was formally incorporated as Gold Beach Summer Theater, Inc., in 1986 becoming a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the cultural life of Curry County through theatrical productions, educational opportunities, and community engagement.
In 2002, the organization evolved into what is known today as the Ellensburg Theater Company, named in honor of the historic Ellensburg community that once stood near the mouth of the Rogue River. While our name has changed over the years, our mission has remained the same: to create memorable theatrical experiences that inspire, entertain, educate, and connect people through the performing arts.
Today, Ellensburg Theater Company proudly operates the Rogue Playhouse a former Masonic Lodge in Gold Beach, presenting a diverse season of plays, musicals, concerts, special events, youth programming, and educational workshops. Our productions are made possible through the dedication of volunteers, performers, directors, technicians, sponsors, donors, and audience members who believe in the power of live theater.
As a nonprofit organization, we remain committed to fostering creativity, nurturing local talent, preserving the arts for future generations, and providing opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to participate in and enjoy live performance.
Whether you're stepping onto the stage, volunteering behind the scenes, becoming a member, or attending your first show, you're part of a tradition that has been bringing our community together since 1971.
We invite you to join us as we continue creating the next chapter of theater on Oregon's Southern Coast.

Our Story
Our Board of Directors
The Ellensburg Theater Company is guided by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors who serve as stewards of both a cherished nonprofit organization and the historic Rogue Playhouse. Together, they bring decades of experience in theater, business, nonprofit leadership, facilities management, communications, law, and community service.
Our board members share a common belief that live theater is more than entertainment—it is a gathering place where stories are shared, creativity is nurtured, and community connections are strengthened. Their collective experience spans acting, directing, backstage production, technical theater, organizational leadership, business management, fundraising, communications, volunteer engagement, and strategic planning.
Whether maintaining our historic facility, supporting productions, developing new programming, expanding community outreach, or ensuring the long-term sustainability of the organization, the Board is committed to preserving the legacy of community theater in Gold Beach while building an exciting future for generations to come.
As caretakers of a tradition that began in 1971, the Board of Directors proudly works alongside our volunteers, members, performers, patrons, and supporters to ensure that the curtain continues to rise at the Rogue Playhouse for years to come.
